Bicester’s annual bike and family day has been confirmed for 2016. Taking place at the Annex Field of Bicester Community College (behind Bicester Leisure Centre) this year’s event is being held on Sunday 24 July between 10.00am and 3.00pm.
Now in its 5th year, the Bicester Bike and Family Day has something for everyone, whether a budding cyclist, learner, or those who haven’t yet got a bike – there is plenty to see and do.
The FREE event, which is open to all, starts at 10.00am with the ‘Tour de Bicester’ treasure hunt style family ride around the town, with participants collecting answers from yellow jerseys along the route ready to complete a Bicester themed quiz at the final leg and claim their medal. The main event then kicks off from 11am – 3pm.
Louise Caves, A2Dominion’s Strategic Partnership Manager for NW Bicester, said:
“Now in its fifth year, we are really looking forward to reigniting the community spirit again this year for the Bicester Bike Day. There will be a variety of bike ride options on the day, as well cyclo-cross racing with a challenging new course, balanceability for little ones just getting started, a climbing wall, penalty shoot-out and a ladies Breeze ride.
“The great thing about the day is its grown year upon year into a bike festival for the town and really does offer something for everyone in the local community – not just avid cyclists. For those that are just wanting to enjoy a fun filled family day out, there will also be a number of other activities on the day including face painting, crafts, a toddlers’ inflatable activity centre and a tasty BBQ.
“We are always looking for ways to encourage people to live healthier lifestyles and. Bicester Bike Day is a fun way for us to do this. So we are delighted to be teaming up with Bicester Leisure Centre again and supporting the Cycling Sportive for another year.”
Riders taking part in the Cycling Sportive event can sign up* early and get a discount (£26 in advance or £30 on the day), setting off at 7.30am so riders can be back to join the rest of the Bike Day’s events.
