Elmsbrook residents have access to a new community space thanks to A2Dominion. The three-bedroom house, situated in the heart of Elmsbrook on Bramley Avenue has been converted into community hub for residents’ use and enjoyment.
A2Dominion, lead developer at NW Bicester, the country’s largest true zero carbon housing scheme, opened the doors to its Community House on Saturday 1st April. As part of this launch residents also had the chance to test drive electric cars which are being promoted to residents through a range of initiatives as part of the schemes sustainable travel targets.
The house will serve as the hub of local activity for Elmsbrook until the community hall is constructed, as part of the local centre in 2020.
The A2Dominion team showcased the new Community House to residents for the first time, whilst also encouraging them to meet their neighbours and enjoy a healthy free lunch. A2Dominion staff were on hand throughout the day to answer any questions and queries, and to gain feedback from the residents about how they would like to make use of the house going forward & informing residents about the many local and sustainable initiatives available to them as occupiers of Elmsbrook.
These sustainable initiatives include the free Brompton Bikes borrowing scheme, electric car-club, free 2 week trials of electric vehicles and the opportunity to become an electric car champion, which are available to all residents of Elmsbrook as part of the ongoing commitment from A2Dominion to encourage sustainable and economic methods of transport.
Families enjoyed getting involved in the many activities that were taking place throughout the day, including:
* Allotment workshops
* Seed sowing and planting
* Apple pressing
* Building a bug hotel
* Arts and Crafts
James Livingstone, Elmsbrook Neighbourhood and Community Manager at A2Dominion commented on the event: “A lot of hard work behind the scenes has gone into making the Community House launch a success. We hope that the space will be well utilised and serve to bring the Elmsbrook community closer together. It was great to see a glimpse of the Community House already playing its part on Saturday, with residents from Elmsbrook enjoying the new space and the many activities on offer to them.”
“We will be using the Community House regularly to chat to the residents and host further events. Elmsbrook is a close-knit community and we hope that, by offering the residents this additional community hub, the community spirit will continue to thrive!”
The Community House will also be available for residents use. For more information on the Community House, please contact James on: 0800 432 0077 / 0208 825 1999 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
