Site Background

Following the identification of the land to the north west of Bicester for an eco-town by Cherwell District Council (CDC), in 2007 North West Bicester was announced as one of four Government designated eco-towns in the UK.  Having been successful in its bid to develop the eco-town at North West Bicester, A2Dominion has been working on advancing its plans with a highly skilled consultancy team with the aim of creating a new sustainable community that is vibrant, resilient and truly integrated with the wider Town.

The first phase of the eco town is the approved ‘Exemplar’ phase featuring 393 new homes. Work began in April 2014.

To help guide the overall development of the wider eco town, CDC asked A2Dominion to prepare a Masterplan for the development.  The purpose of the masterplan is to:

  • Set out the key principles of development in terms of the distribution of development, land use, open space and access
  • Provide a guide for all future planning applications
  • Establish a framework against which future planning applications can be judged

We have been working with a range of local representatives and organisations to further develop the masterplan proposals.

A2Dominion has made a further step forward with its Masterplan for North West Bicester with a number of documents and strategies, including the ‘Masterplan Vision’ (8MB) which have now been submitted to Cherwell District Council  for future consideration.  Further supporting technical work remains ongoing and once completed, if the Masterplan is considered acceptable, it will then be used as the lead resource for all parties involved in progressing, approving and building the eco town.
